Open your family tree
Start Gramps (Windows, macOS or Linux) and load the family tree you want to export via "Family Trees > Manage Family Trees…". The tree must be open before the export menu becomes available.
Start the export assistant
Choose "Family Trees > Export…" (Ctrl+E). Gramps opens an assistant. On the first page pick "GEDCOM" as the format and click "Next". Do not choose "Gramps XML" or "Gramps package"; those formats cannot be uploaded.
Set the export options
On the options page keep the person filter at "Entire Database". Under "Living people" select "Include all" if living relatives should appear on the poster; the other choices replace or remove their names. The box "Do not include records marked private" is fine to leave ticked. Gramps writes UTF-8 by default.
Choose a file name and export
On the last page choose a folder and a file name ending in .ged, then click "Apply". Gramps shows a short summary when it is done. The .ged file is now ready to upload.
Upload to RootsOnPrint
Your GEDCOM file is ready. Upload it at RootsOnPrint and design your poster there.

Troubleshooting
Living relatives appear as "[Living]"?
The "Living people" option was set to "Replace names" or "Exclude". Run the export again and choose "Include all". Gramps decides who counts as living from birth dates and the absence of a death event.
Export contains only part of the tree?
A person filter was active. Set the filter back to "Entire Database", or build a custom filter (Edit > Filter Editor) if you want to export only one branch on purpose.
Which GEDCOM version does Gramps write?
Gramps 5.x exports GEDCOM 5.5.1, which RootsOnPrint reads without further settings. If you use a very old Gramps 3.x version, the export still works; the file may just carry more notes and sources, which are ignored for the poster.
