Sign in as a manager
webtrees is a web application that runs on your own or a society’s web space. The full export is available to the managers and administrators of a tree. Sign in and open the “Control panel”. The labels below are those of the English interface; other languages show translated labels in the same places.
Open Manage family trees › Export
In the control panel choose “Manage family trees”, open the panel of your tree and click “Export” in the “GEDCOM file” section.
Set the export preferences
In the card “A file on your computer” set “Format” to “GEDCOM” (not ZIP or GEDZIP) and “Character encoding” to “UTF-8”; the line endings do not matter. Under “Apply privacy settings” choose “None” (administrators) or “Manager” so living relatives keep their data; “Member” and “Visitor” hide private records.
Download the file
Click “download”. Your browser saves the .ged file in the Downloads folder. The other card, “A file on the server”, only stores a copy on the web space and is not what you need here.
Upload to RootsOnPrint
Your GEDCOM file is ready. Upload it at RootsOnPrint and design your poster there.

Troubleshooting
You are not a manager of the tree?
Ask the site administrator for a GEDCOM file, or use the “Clippings cart” if the site has it switched on: add a person with the option “… and his ancestors” (or her ancestors, or descendants) and choose “Download”. The privacy level of your account applies, so living people may be missing.
You received a ZIP file?
The format was set to ZIP or GEDZIP. Unpack the archive and upload the .ged file inside, or export again with the format “GEDCOM”.
Living relatives appear as “Private”?
The export used the “Member” or “Visitor” privacy level. Export again with “None” or “Manager”.
