Troubleshooting

Should I export everyone or selected people?

For most poster designs, exporting everyone works best. You will choose the root person and number of generations during the poster design step on RootsOnPrint.

RootsMagic 7 vs RootsMagic 8+?

The export process is similar across versions. In newer versions (8+), the menu layout may be slightly different but the File > Export path remains the same. Both produce compatible GEDCOM files.

File seems too large?

If you have extensive notes or source citations, the GEDCOM file can grow large. RootsOnPrint has a 10 MB upload limit. If your file exceeds this, try exporting without notes and sources, or contact us for help.
