Open your own tree
Sign in at geneanet.org on a computer and open your tree (in the French interface “Ma Généalogie › Voir mon arbre”). Only the owner can export a tree; other members’ trees cannot be downloaded as GEDCOM. Geneanet is a French site, so the labels below are given in French with their meaning; the English site shows translated labels in the same places.
Open “Save / export”
Click the “Menu” button above your tree and, under “Gestion de l’arbre” (tree management), choose “Sauvegarder / exporter” (save / export). Depending on the version of the site the entry is called “Exporter mon arbre” or, on the English site, “Export and Backup”.
Create a file from the online tree
Geneanet offers two files. “Votre fichier d’origine” is the GEDCOM you once uploaded, without any later edits. Choose the other option, the file created from your online tree (“Arbre en ligne”), which contains your latest changes. As the format pick “Gedcom (UTF-8)” so accents arrive intact. The links to tree and family-chronicle images are optional; the poster does not need them. Then click “Télécharger” (download).
Unpack the ZIP file
Geneanet delivers a ZIP archive. Open it from your Downloads folder (Windows: right-click › “Extract all”; Mac: double-click) and keep the .ged file inside. The ZIP itself cannot be uploaded.
Upload to RootsOnPrint
Your GEDCOM file is ready. Upload it at RootsOnPrint and design your poster there.

Troubleshooting
The poster shows an old state of the tree?
You downloaded “Votre fichier d’origine”, the file from your first upload to Geneanet. Export again and choose the file created from the online tree.
Are my photos included?
No. A GEDCOM is a plain text file; Geneanet only writes links to the images stored on its servers. The poster is made from names, dates and relationships, so nothing is missing.
Do I need Premium?
In Geneanet’s help and forums we found no Premium requirement for exporting your own tree; what is not possible at all is downloading someone else’s tree. If only one branch should go on the poster, export the whole tree anyway: you pick the root person and the generations at RootsOnPrint.
