Troubleshooting
Export option is grayed out?
The export option only works while a tree file is open in Family Tree Maker. Open your tree first via File > Open.
Which export options should I select?
For RootsOnPrint, export the entire file and include all facts/events. You can exclude media files to keep the GEDCOM smaller. Choose GEDCOM 5.5.1 if given the choice.
Tree synced with Ancestry?
If your tree is synced with Ancestry.com, you can export from either Family Tree Maker or the Ancestry website. Both will produce a valid GEDCOM file. The desktop export tends to be faster for large trees.
