Open your project
Start Family Historian on your Windows PC and open the project you want to print. The steps follow versions 7 and 8; older versions have a similar dialog.
Go to File › Import/Export › Export › GEDCOM File
In the “File” menu choose “Import/Export”, then “Export” and “GEDCOM File”. The “Export Gedcom File” dialog opens.
Set the options
Leave “Destination” on “Default” (“Standard Gedcom” works too) and set “File Format” to UTF-8. Click “Add All” so that every individual is included; “Select” would pick single people. Under “Media Records” choose to exclude media; the poster does not need them. Facts flagged as private, tentative or rejected stay out by default, which is fine for a poster.
Click OK and save
Click “OK”, choose a folder such as Desktop or Downloads and a file name ending in .ged, and save. Family Historian writes the file within seconds.
Upload to RootsOnPrint
Your GEDCOM file is ready. Upload it at RootsOnPrint and design your poster there.

Troubleshooting
The file contains nobody?
No individuals were added in the export dialog. Open it again and click “Add All” before “OK”.
Accents or umlauts look wrong?
Family Historian 6 wrote UTF-16 (“Unicode”) by default, which many programs cannot read. RootsOnPrint can, but UTF-8 is the safest choice: set “File Format” to UTF-8 and export again.
Are living relatives included?
Yes. The standard export has no switch that hides living people, so they are in the file with their data. RootsOnPrint leaves out the years of living people by default; you decide in the design step.
